TIGA MAGAZINE

Volume 5 - Featuring Vamsi Nath
"The Tone Alchemist from Thiruvananthapuram"
“Every bit of pain in learning guitar was satisfying. I’ve never had a single regret holding the instrument.”
Vamsi’s passion for the guitar was sparked in the middle of a childhood "musical war" between his rock-loving brother and classical-leaning sister. With exposure to both genres, his musical world was wide open. The defining moment came when he heard Eddie Van Halen’s iconic solo on “Beat It,” which inspired him to pick up his first guitar, a de’ France Crusader, a copy of an Ovation.
Learning was far from easy. Like many beginners, he wrestled with technique and discipline. “I was always tempted to skip lessons and dive into rock licks before I could even cleanly play an F major chord,” he laughs. Despite the challenges, Vamsi found joy in every struggle, always feeling “in the zone” when playing.
Supported by a musically inclined family and friends, he built his own creative space in a culture where music isn’t always prioritized as a profession. Today, Vamsi fuses Indian classical and Western rock styles, mentors young guitarists, and advocates for music education as a vital part of life.

TIGA was born from the union of science and sound.
I’m a neuroscientist and a lifelong guitarist — and I’ve always believed that every guitar player holds a story worth telling. Whether it begins in a bedroom, a village gig, or a crowded stage, each journey is unique, honest, and incredibly human.
This platform was created to celebrate that — to bring together diverse tones, styles, and lives into one evolving archive. Your support makes this possible. Your stories make it unforgettable.
Together, we’re stringing a billion dreams.
The Indian Guitar Archives (TIGA) is India’s first archive of guitarists — an online platform and digital magazine that documents the voices, stories, and sounds of guitar players across the country. From seasoned professionals to self-taught beginners, TIGA is dedicated to sharing the heartfelt journeys behind the strings — their inspirations, struggles, influences, and triumphs.
This is more than just a magazine. It’s a movement to spotlight and support guitarists from every corner of India — to preserve their artistry, amplify their voices, and build a community rooted in passion and performance. If you’re a guitarist and would like to be featured, drop us an email — we’d love to hear your story and strum it into the world.
